A music collective that was originated in the eminent Boğaziçi University, known as a nest for musicians.

Cümbüş Cemaat [Revel Community] interprets traditional music with the touch of many musicians without relying on forms, and also works on their own compositions. They visit Salon on the night of Hıdırellez, a Balkans-wide and centuries-old tradition in which people overindulge in the celebration of spring. Cümbüş Cemaat composed original music for the renowned director Tony Gatlif’s film Djam in 2017 and gave a concert before the movie’s premiere at the Cannes Film Festival. Together with Shantel, they recorded their 2020 album Istanbul in Frankfurt. ‘This is a rebel song. Everyone, hug your mummy and get ready to dance!’ they cheered as they released their latest single, ‘Mumya’.

We are at Salon on the evening of Hıdırellez to say goodbye to winter and welcome spring with drum and zurna.
