The next big name in the global music scene, calling out to the world from his base in south London. He wants to bring the sounds of his homeland bang up to date with alt R&B and leftfield electronica, uniting east and west.

Emir Taha grew up in Ankara  and moved around Türkiye with his family, rarely settling in any one place. He taught himself to use production software and started putting songs on Soundcloud, which pricked the ear of Turkish pop megastar Kenan Doğulu, who invited Emir to support him on tour and welcomed him into his studio. A year later, Emir moved to London for university and kept up music between his studies, performing at open-mic nights around the city. He became the first Turkish musician to do the Colors Show and enter the top three in the US Viral Chart. His 2020 debut project Hoppa established Emir’s evocative style, his knack for a high-concept metaphor and the duality of his eastern heritage and western surroundings. Following Hoppa, he was warmly welcomed at Salon, where everyone sang along to his songs and he received encore after encore. Now, he is returning to Salon with his second project, E.T. Phone Home, which features collaborations with producers such as Al Shux, Detonate, and Kurisu, alongside his long-time collaborators Pablo Bowman and J Moon.

Anatolian psychedelia with Emir on classical guitar, drawing on the bump and grind of South London, with beats bringing to mind the lo-fi bedroom stylings of Jai Paul and the smooth sound of The Weeknd.
