A Dutch afro-punk team
They gave two magnificent concerts at the Jazz in the Parks event of the Istanbul Jazz Festival this past July, crowning the hearts of the festival audience. They find their inspiration in Fela Kuti, James Brown, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Miles Davis, and The Roots. They grew to be one of the most anticipated bands of the North Sea Jazz, Zwarte Cross, Oerol, Dunya and Roots Festival Amsterdam; took the stages all over Europe, especially in Belgium, Hungary and Sweden. Gained a considerable fan base with their talent for improvisation, and their command of afro-beat, jazz and 70s punk. They now revisit Istanbul with the contributions of the Consulate General of the Netherlands. They will also hold a workshop for children in Istanbul and Mardin, together with the musician Tarık Aslan who also accompanied them in their Jazz in the Parks concerts.
We first encountered their afro-beat and funk rhythms dipped in jazz and pop outdoors. It is now time to give in to their energy at Salon.
