Literature at Salon: Édouard Louis

Literature at Salon: Édouard Louis

One of the most striking voices in contemporary French literature, Édouard Louis is coming to Istanbul for the first time to meet his readers, as the guest of Salon. The conversation will be moderated by Ayberk Erkay – academic, researcher and the translator of all Louis’s works into Turkish.

Édouard Louis has received wide acclaim in both Türkiye and around the world for his books The End of Eddy, History of Violence, Who Killed My Father and A Woman’s Battles and Transformations, all published in Turkish by Can Publications. His novels have been translated into more than twenty languages and adapted for the stage in many countries. His latest book, Changer: méthode (To Change), published in May, is an autobiographical account that draws on his own life story, class background and personal transformation. More than a tale of personal rebirth, it is a powerful testimony to how politically defined social norms can penetrate even the most intimate aspects of our lives. The conversation will centre around this most recent work.

An opportunity to engage more closely with Édouard Louis and his work, which offers a nuanced exploration of social class and identity in contemporary France.
