Jazz-based project where one of the prominent figures of our jazz scene guitarist Önder Focan and saxophonist brothers Anıl and Batuhan Şallıel drop anchor by the energetic shores of funk.

The ‘Funkbook’ project was born at a Nardis Jazz Club concert where our music scenes esteemed jazz guitarist Önder Focan played with the Şallıel Brothers. The project was adored and cherished from the moment of its birth by the audience, and was established with an album released in 2016. Önder Focan’s compositions are rendered with high-doses of funk and energy with the dynamic contributions of Anıl and Batuhan Şallıel. Önder Focan who has carried his jazz view to worldwide festivals mainly in USA, France and Germany, has shared the stage with artists including Benny Golson, Kurt Elling, Dianne Reeves and Al Foster. Focan also happens to be one of our musicians with the most jazz albums. As for the Şallıel Brothers, besides shared the same stage as world-known drum virtuoso Dave Weckl, they have come together with Italian jazz guitarist Nicola Conte for International Jazz Day. Together with their band Superband, Şallıel Brothers continue to liven up the Istanbul music scene with funk, soul and jazz.

A night where jazz and funk will compliment each very, very nicely and those seeking virtuosity in the execution of live music will be very, very happy.
