Caroline Rose’s albums shapeshift with the times, following instinct over formula. Emerging from what she herself describes as a ‘weird buffet’ of a mind, her work spans psychobilly, pop, shoegaze, alt-country, folk, electronic, and experimental music. From the alt-country/folk feel of I Will Not Be Afraid to LONER’s psychobilly fusion of punk rock and low-budget horror and sci-fi aesthetics, and on to the glitzy, self-produced synth-pop of Superstar, Rose has navigated her genre-crossing path with a clear DIY ethos. In February 2025, she released the songs from her album year of the slug in their rawest form, recorded using GarageBand and shared exclusively on Bandcamp. ‘Sometimes it’s nice to see a pearl before it’s been polished,’ said Rose, offering the album in a limited number of physical copies and turning her back on other digital streaming platforms.

Touring independent venues on her year of the slug tour titled ‘An Evening With’, where Salon is also a stop, Rose often takes the stage accompanied by a guitar, piano or modular synthesiser – whatever the space allows. She sends a nod of solidarity to the workers behind the live music industry.
