A legendary figure in Turkish rock music, vocalist and co-founder of the band Duman, Kaan Tangöze takes the stage at Salon with his solo project.
Kaan Tangöze rose to fame in the late ’90s with Duman, becoming not just the voice of a band but of an entire generation through songs like ‘Eski Köprünün Altında’, ‘Oje’, and ‘Bal’. After many years of high-voltage band performances, he slowed the tempo with his 2015 solo album Gölge Etme. Accompanied by his guitar and harmonica, he turned to acoustic songs, most of which feature his own lyrics. His solo repertoire, drawing on the oral folk traditions of Anatolia and verses from orators such as Özdemir Asaf, Aşık Mahzuni Şerif, Karacaoğlan, carries traces of the past while firmly rooted in the present. For his 2022 album Âşık Mahzuni Şerif Türküleri, he recorded ten folk songs arranged and produced in his Istanbul studio.
Raw yet powerful songs, arranged for guitar and harmonica.
