A Baltimore-based songwriter, musician, and producer who has found the golden ratio in blending New Wave, R&B, and dance.

Berklee graduate Marcus Brown began uploading his obsessively written songs under the name Nourished By Time after a rollercoaster ride of failures, creative conflicts, and heartbreaks. He garnered an unexpected following in the UK, leading to release of his Erotic Problematic EP. He joined post-punk band Dry Cleaning on their North American tour and remixed their track ‘Gary Ashby’. He also contributed to progressive electronic artist Yaeji’s debut album With A Hammer. Following all this, he dropped his critically acclaimed album Erotic Probiotic 2, which was featured on multiple "Best of 2024" lists, including Gorilla vs Bear, Pitchfork, The Guardian, The Fader, and Paste.

Nourished By Time has woven his journey from disappointment to success with raw and intimate vocals, a warped ‘80s R&B aesthetic infused with dream pop, and sharp political observations on existence, love, consumerism, and their relationship with labour. His ability to create emotionally resonant moments has been key to his musical impact. In 2024, he released the Catching Chickens EP under the legendary UK label XL Recordings. In ‘Hell of a Ride’, he contemplates the loneliness bred by late-stage capitalism, while ‘Had Ya Called’ explores the disappointment of fading friendships. With melodies born from the fusion of serious, intricate themes and extraordinary pop, Nourished By Time will take the stage at Salon as the season of spring draws to a close.
