One of the most treasured pieces in Canada’s indie rock canon.

Formed in 1995 under the frontmanship of Murray Lightburn. As the indie scene began to take shape in Canada, The Dears became one of its foundational cornerstones. In 1998, keyboard artist Natalia Yanchak, who would later unite her life with Lightburn, joined the band, and their signature style began to form, moving along the edges of chamber pop, cabaret-inspired indie and indie rock. They toured with The Tragically Hip, Keane and Morrissey. Murray Lightburn’s characteristic vocals and the band’s defining sound alludes to Serge Gainsbourg, Morrissey and Damon Albarn who are among Lightburn’s own musical heroes. Having taken the stage at both the Istanbul Jazz Festival and Salon İKSV before, they formed a deep, enduring relationship with İKSV audiences. Now, to celebrate this relationship, they return to Salon on Valentine’s Day.
