Netherlands’ new gift to the electronic music scenes after Weval, the ambient and techno flavoured electronica duo consisting of Stijn Hosman and Hessel Stuut.
Atmosphere and rhythm… These two words are ideally suited for describing the seductive electronic music of Polynation. They released their first EP ‘Allogamy’ from the Amsterdam based record company Atomnation label, known for signing such names as Weval and Gidge. This EP embraced an all organic sound, had catchy melodies blending into a seductive foundation, and was virtually a stage for the dance of drums and synthesizer. The success they attained with Allogamy paved the way for being invited to important festivals such as ADE, Best Kept Secret and Eurosonic. It didn’t take long before they attracted music guru Gilles Peterson’s attention, known for sensing good music from miles away. Thus they appeared on his programme for BBC Radio 6 Music several times. Songs including ‘Why you’, ‘Sufi’ and ‘Anther’ have taken their place among favourites of electronic music listeners. Their live performances have reinforced their success with an improvisational spirit that enhances the effect of their recordings. They released their long-awaited first LP last year in May. The first Polynation album titled ‘Igneous’ has been widely considered to be among the best debut albums of 2019. We watched them for the first time in Istanbul by the Bosphorus at Gezgin Salon on 30 June, just before Agar Agar. Now it’s time for our first rendezvous at Salon İKSV.
Consisting of Orhan Yılmaz, Meriç Erseçgen and Burak Gürpınar, the trio Mind Shifter released its debut album ‘Disconnected Space’ in 2013. This album was followed by the EP ‘Another Life’ released in 2014, and an EP titled ‘Welcome’ in 2015. You would assume their instrumental synth-wave and synth-pop productions belonged to the soundtrack of a sci-fi or steampunk movie. Mind Shifter has signalled the beginning of a brand new period following the release of ‘Horizon’ in 2017 and their new song “E.I.N” featuring In Hoodies released last month.
A night that will make anyone who has feelings for Weval, Agar Agar, and Kiasmos, with a taste for good electronic music, dance.
This event has an age restriction of 18.
