London-born Sudanese-American singer, songwriter and musician who produces in a wide spectrum from afro-beat to funk, pop to jazz, reflecting the cultures that nourished him.
Ahmed Gallab, stage name Sinkane, was born to college professors in London. His parents moved to Sudan where he would live till he was five years old, then moved to the USA. Having travelled to so many different places in a brief period reflected on his musical identity that began to form at an early age. You may know Ahmed Gallab not only as Sinkane but also from many other significant bands and projects he participated in. Besides performing as a session musician for such distinguished names as Caribou, of Montreal, Born Ruffians and Yeasayer, Gallab is the vocalist and music director of the enormous project Atomic Bomb! Band which is dedicated to Nigerian electro-funk legend William Onyeabor. He brought together world-famous musicians such as David Byrne, Damon Albarn, Money Mark, Dev Hynes, Amadou and Mariam, Joshua Redman, Jamie Lidell and Alexis Taylor for this project. The process that started in 2012 with the release of his first album MARS continues with his latest album Dépaysé, released by City Slang label which also has Jakuzi on his roster, and brought about changes in transitions and alterations in Sinkane’s musical tones. Even though he produces highly energetic songs based on Funk, Sudanese pop, psychedelia and afro-beat, he doesn’t hold back when it comes to lyrics. You’re in for a charged night with Sinkane, who never avoids revealing his political identity in his songs infused with multi-culturalism to the bone.
Lyricist and composer that is one half of Seni Görmem İmkansız and Kahinar.
She became a part of our lives with Seni Görmem Imkansız with Gaye Su Akyol and Kahinar with Serkan Alkanlı. In a music industry that churns out carbon copies of the same projects, she quickly became the darling of followers of the fresh and fine with her unique voice and style. She became the sought after-name of Kadıköy nights with her DJ sets that make even the not-so-inclined dance. Her first solo album ‘Gölgelerine’, produced by Jakuzi’s Taner Yücel and Bubituzak’s Görkem Karabudak was completed in 2017. She further enticed her followers with two teasers from her album, “Onun Karanlık Huyları” and “Kaptan”. Şenoğul was at the Salon İKSV stage last November, this time she will take the stage before Sinkane, in a duo performance of ‘Gölgelerine’ with Ahmetcan Gökçeer.
