Jazz band from London with exquisite mastery on Caribbean and African rhythms
Founded by Shabaka Hutchings, Oren Marshall, Seb Rochford, and Tom Skinner in 2011. Released their debut ‘Burn’ in 2013. Micachu, Vince Vella and many other producers remixed songs in the album, which also won ‘The Best Jazz Performance’ prize in MOBO Awards and ‘Gilles Peterson Best Album of the Year’ prize. Released their sophomore album ‘Lest We Forget What We Came Here’ in 2015. It was when they had their first visit to Salon. Their latest album ‘Your Queen is A Reptile’ came this year. Nine tracks in the album that are all titled ‘My Queen Is…’ pay tribute to nine black women who stood against slavery, fought for human rights in the forefronts, and engraved their names in history. They became one of the Mercury Award nominees with this album. They will be at Salon for the second time, in support of the album.
