Greek singer-songwriter who modernises synth-pop standards with her non-standard sense of electro-pop.
In describing Stella Chronopoulou, aka Σtella, we can use St. Vincent and Eurhythmics in the same sentence. Both nostalgic elements and progressive touches are present in her disco flavoured electro-pop. Other than her solo project, she has produced collaborative projects with such names as Coti K., Sillyboy, Expert Medicine, My Wet Calvin, NTEIBINT and Sad Disco. As though several solo productions she completed in a brief period of time weren’t enough, she also founded two bands titled Fever Kids and CHEST. These bands are on stand-by at the moment as she can best express herself through solo projects. Σtella released her self-titled first album from Inner Ear Records in 2015. The album navigates through disco, pop and new wave, and has produced the hit debut single Picking Words. In her second album, Works for You, released in 2017, she plays the game of her creation much more confidently. The album resembling an electronic rainbow bears traces of the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s pop.
How would it have sounded if Annie Lennox, St. Vincent and PJ Harvey had one timbre? Σtella has the answer.
