An Australian cult trio going strong with the same members for over 35 years.The New York Times calls them ‘the greatest trio on Earth,’ while the LA Times hails them as ‘among the world’s greatest forces in music.’

Formed in Sydney in 1987, The Necks is Chris Abrahams on piano and Hammond organ, Tony Buck on drums, percussion and electric guitar, and Lloyd Swanton on double and electric bass. Their thing? Free-form experimental jazz that stretches time, warps space and builds from a whisper to a full-body experience – sometimes hypnotic, always one-of-a-kind. Their 1989 debut single ‘Sex’ was a one-hour improvisation based on just a two bar motif. No rehearsals, no setlists; just trust, instinct, and decades of playing together. Over the years, they’ve taken their time and made it count, releasing five albums, the latest of which, Bleed (2024), is a single 42-minute piece that drips with atmosphere.
