Istanbul’s rock export, embraced with uncompromising pride by the city.

Formed in 2012 by Tarkan Mertoğlu and Deniz Ağan on guitars, and Lale Kardeş on drums, they entered our lives through the tastemaker festivals of Istanbul’s 2010s music scene like Demonation and Newcomers. The band proved that rock & roll could thrive on nothing more than two guitars and drums, resetting expectations so completely that no one felt the abscence of a bass line. With her command of drum sticks, Lale emerged as a rock & roll queen in her own right. Their 2014 self-titled album The Ringo Jets was produced by Grammy-winning producer Tommaso Colliva, known for his work with Muse and Franz Ferdinand. They shared stages at festivals including Primavera Sound, Les Rencontres Transmusicales, Gutter Island, Øyafestivalen, and Sziget alongside Pixies, Portishead, The Battles, The Sonics and Gogol Bordello, swelling our pride even further. As the band’s musical horizons widened, Alex Tsintsaru joined them on stage on bass guitar. To date, they have recorded three studio albums, five EPs and two compilation albums. Now they return to the stage they love most, and where they are loved most in return: Salon İKSV.
